The Art of P.S. Rutherford

P.S. Rutherford was born in Santa Monica, California, in 1948,and Graduated from the University of Tulsa, Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 1970,
where he enrolled in drawing classes taught by Alexander Hogue.

After graduation, he moved back to California (Santa Clara), where his graphic design experience expanded tremendously. P.S. has had
extensive experience throughout the whole of California, New York, Georgia, Colorado, Nevada and Oklahoma to name a few. He has
been contracted out for his original designs and advertising concepts. Products ranging from automobiles (Jaguar/Audi & Porsche), airlines,
music, restaurants and Internet websites.

His professional experience consists of graphic arts, creative direction & design, traditional design & renderings, multimedia design utilizing
Adobe program applications/designs and hologram designs for an eclectic clientele.

P.S. soon realized even with his freedom of artistic license he was still producing a Aproduct@ for clients, this in turn made him feel stifled.

In 1999, P.S. embarked on his true passion of painting. He has chosen oil painting as his primary medium. Through his relentless attention
to detail, creative conceptualization and relaxed style he feels he is on the road to boundless creativity.

"...the Horseman is contemplating alone-ness at the end of an era and he is cordoned off via some lonely road. (He still has the Nag he rides). His essence remains strong, -However he has found himself in another time and place than that to which he has grown accustomed. I must say that I admire his faith. Not easy to do."

"...when I was growing up in Northern California, we used to look at the constellations in the purple (luminous) twilight. Orion and the "Horsehead Nebula" always seemed to dominate my thinking over those years... these images seem (to me) to merge into the landscape of a similar coloration to that of the Santa Clara Valley, & that being Sienna, Italy."

"...the background glaze contains a karmic tower, and it is hard to attain the structure on foot,that being a problem for the egotistical Pomp, ...who wants to climb to the top of the Rouge Tower, which is where (he thinks) that he belongs. the light sources are on him; & that's sorta funny, actually, -as he already absorbs more illumination than he will acquire at the tower's apex, should he arrive there; which he will not. "
